Now in its third year, the Off the Map competition challenges prospective games designers to use collections from the British Library as inspiration to create exciting interactive digital content. The winners of this year's competition, which is run in collaboration with GameCity, will be announced in October 2015.
The competition forms part of the British Library's forthcoming celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland. These include a free exhibition at the Library (Autumn 2015 – Spring 2016) exploring the enduring influence of the original Alice in Wonderland story and illustrations. The Library owns the original manuscript of the story, written and illustrated by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (better known as Lewis Carroll), and made a digital version of the manuscript and other linked resources available to competition entrants through the Game City website.
