In early 2017, a group of second year students on the BA Fine Art and BA Art & Design courses were invited to the Archives to explore how documents, artworks, photographs and oral histories relating to the history of Birmingham School of Art might inspire their own creative practice. Each of them was asked to develop new work that considered potential links between the School's history, its changing methods of teaching and the value accorded to artistic production today. The research could be in any form or medium relevant to their area of interest. They each wrote a blog post that reflected their thoughts and decision-making processes in responding to the items they chose to focus on.
